Life Lesson From The Moonlight
We have emotions that bring out the dark inside of ourselves. Some call this the “shadow” self.
We come into the world like a “burst of light”, but we encounter emotions that bring us into the shadows of night.
I have often experienced this for myself. A misconception I picked up from childhood is that we can only show our happy shinning selves to the world and our “shadow self” is unacceptable.
Those big heavy and dark emotions that can be hard to engage with and work through are to be hidden.
WISDOM I’m discovering…
Is there is great worth in understanding the dark and light side of our emotions. They both are messengers to teach us. As we experience these feelings we grow into a more whole person.
But…
Being whole is a lifetime process and so it is we learn from the night.
In the darkness we still need something to look to….
A wise creator set us a light to brighten the night sky. It reflects the light of the powerful sun.
The moon says to us, “you don’t need to be whole to shine”
If needed, until the break of day…live on borrowed light of the sun.
The phases of the moon change and grow into the wholeness or a full moon.
And so can we in time…until then…like the moonlight…
Shine in the night through the darkest moments, experiences and emotions.
This may be the most brilliant thing we do for ourselves and the others who look up to us as well…
